Common questions.
How is pricing structured?
A flat monthly fee, quoted after the Strategy Day. Engagements run 10–20 hours a month. Once we know which workflows need oversight and how often we meet, we quote the fee based on the value we find. We don't publish a monthly rate, because it depends on that scope.
What's the minimum commitment?
3 months. The work compounds — by month four we know your stack, your team, your goals.
Is this you personally, Steffen, or a team?
You work directly with Steffen for strategy. Build work is fulfilled by our team, with Steffen overseeing quality.
Fractional CTO or Fractional AI Officer — what's the difference?
Same role, different framing. In tech-heavy markets like Kitchener-Waterloo, we use 'Fractional CTO' because that's the language engineering leadership already speaks. In other industries, 'Fractional AI Officer' resonates more, and some firms call the same role a Fractional Chief AI Officer (CAIO). All of these describe the same embedded leadership engagement — strategy, vendor evaluation, team enablement, and ongoing deployment support.
How is this different from hiring an AI consultant?
